Pregnant – Laura Ludwig skips 2018 season
Laura Ludwig – current Olympic, World and FIVB World Tour Champion – will not participate in the 2018 season. Based on today’s post on her Facebook page, the German top player is expecting a baby together with her boyfriend Imornefe Bowes, the current German national head coach. Birth date will be June 2018. Since she won’t be able to compete in the 2018 season, her focus will be on the 2019 World Championships and the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo.
Her beach volleyball partner Kira Walkenhorst is currently recovering from another hip surgery and is supporting Ludwig’s plans for a baby break. After the 2018 break, both of them are planning to continue their successful partnership. Laura Ludwig on Facebook:
“Our goals regarding beach volleyball do not change. I will stay in shape so that Kira and I can defend our titles in 2019 and 2020. I am looking forward to everything coming up.”
