Dedicated to beach volleyball – Pepper Swimwear Bikinis
When it comes to beach volleyball bikinis, there are not that many dedicated beach volleyball brands out there. One of them is Pepper Swimwear, a Californian brand whose products include bikinis, boardshorts and shirts. Based on their own claim, their products “stand up to the beach volleyball beating making them ideal for all sorts of activities including surfing, standup paddle boarding, boogie boarding and yoga.” Some brand ambassadors are well-known American AVP players like Katie Spieler or Kim DiCello. Having the bikinis produced in Bali, Pepper Swimwear is committed to sustainable production and ethical work conditions.
We tried out their “El Matador” series which comes in a cute cut that is still not too skimpy. In contrast to some non-volleyball brands, the Pepper bikinis do still focus on athleticism and performance. The El Matador V-Back comes in a sports bra like fit that is appropriate for a wide range of sizes. We would call the coverage rather conservative and comfortable for the court. A great feature is that the El Matador V-Back is reversible, meaning that you get two bikinis in one. There are several color and pattern options available. Usually a major concern with bikinis is color stability but with the one we tried, colors didn’t change after washing it a few times.

The multi-strap reversible bikini bottom has 4 straps on each hip and a crotch that is wide enough for beach volleyball. As the top, the 4-strap bikini bottom is a two-in-one so in total you have four different looks when combining top and bottom. Color options are the same as for the top, namely black-diamond tribal, Fiji-diamond, green-blue tribal, sapphire-feather, black-blue tribal and blue-itkat.
