Jurmala (LAT)

Jurmala Beach near Riga (Latvia) has been added as another 3-star stop to this year’s FIVB World Tour calendar. The event will take place from August 21-25, 2019. Prize money is US$ 75,000 and the event will count for the Olympic qualification process towards Tokyo 2020.

The lovely beach resort of Jurmala hosted the CEV European Beach Volleyball Championships in 2017. In the event’s final Italian Olympic silver medalists Paolo Nicolai and Daniele Lupo defeated local heroes Janis Smedins and “Lion King” Alex Samoilovs. On the women’s side it was German surprise team Glenzke/Grossner who won the title in their last international appearance as a team.
